What happened to ASDA wine shop?

ASDA Wine Shop is now merged with ASDA groceries delivery. This means you have to spend a minimum of £40 in all including your groceries, otherwise you get charge £3 for delivery.

ASDA wines are now grouped by grape such as Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Chauvignon, Malbec, etc.

Barefoot Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet Sauvignon red wine is flavourful medium body and smooth. Goes well with red meat dishes, tomato dishes and pastas. Can also be drank with a snack of cheese and crackers or some dark chocolate.

Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine tastes of cherry and blackcurrant and a hint of vanilla. It is medium bodied with distinct tannin flavours. Can be drank with red meat dishes or mature cheese snacks.

This is a quarter sized bottle of the above.

Apothic Cabernet Sauvignon

Vanilla, chocolate, oak, oaky notes

McGuigan Classic Cabernet Sauvignon

Luis Felipe Edwards Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon

This is a corked wine and suitable for vegans. Drink with rich beef dishes, especially steak.
Full bodied with a lot of tannin. Has flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry, green pepper, chocolate and cedar wood.

Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon

Strong dry tannin flavours and strong smooth blend of dark fruit aromas with notes of toasted oak, chocolate and vanilla making it smooth to drink.

Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvignon

Flavoursome, full bodied wine and smooth from the wine region of South Australia. This is strong. Full bodied and strong aroma.

Diablo Dark Red

Hints of vanilla, cherry, and oak. Lovely and smooth. You can Keep it in the fridge for 4 or 5 days before it goes flat. Tasty Chilean wine. with rich dark plum and blackberry flavours, a touch of ripeness and acidity and a soft smooth lingering taste. A sophisticated dark red wine with an intense, deep red color and delicate notes of mocha and vanilla. Delicious dark fruit notes, flavoursome, dark, and seductive.

Diablo Black Cabernet Sauvignon

Smoked oak flavour that blends into a spicy, smooth fruity plum and cherry flavour. Probably not as good as the dark red version being lighter bodied. Hints of vanilla and chocolate. Great with red meat dishes or steaks.

ASDA Extra Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon

Full-bodied, fruity wine with blackcurrant notes
Deep red to purple colour. Aroma of dark fruits plum and blackcurrant. Juicy and smooth, simple and fun. Easy drinking and quite light. Would go well with a pepperoni pizza.

Calvet la Fleur Baron Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon

Very fruity taste and aroma but not sweet, dark red, dry and full bodied. Taste great with meat. Strong, fruity, a little sour. Not be to everyone’s taste. Some may find it bitter or sour.

Quite pleasant – not sophisticated but well balanced fruity wine.

Pleasant and easy drinking wine. Not too distinctive a taste but definitely slightly sweet and fruity. Fresh flavour and pleasant fragrance. Smoky oak barrel tint to the flavour. Drink with a bbq, roast chicken or roast beef.

Barefoot Merlot

Well balanced blend of fruits such as plum, blueberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry and slightly acidic. Soft and pleasant flavour with a hint of vanilla. Rich dark red colour. Smooth and easy to drink and well balanced. Medium body.

Fre Merlot Alcohol-Removed Wine

This alcohol free wine is produced by centrifuging merlot wine which removes the alcohol. But then unfermented juice is then added make it more wine-like. The result is a fruity, drink that is not quite like wine but still pleasant as a drink in its own right. For those that like the taste of alcohol, it will be missing.

Gallo Family Vineyards Merlot

Aromas of smoked oak barrel. Tastes of plum, smoky oak and vanilla. Full bodied flavour. Drink with beef and roast potatoes.
